
A highly skilled banking professional with over 33 years of experience in Sri Lanka and internationally, Mr. Illangakoon has a proven track record in Retail Banking, SME, Corporate Banking, Project Finance, and Risk Management. His employment history at Ceylon Tobacco Company, Hatton National Bank, Barclays Bank UAE, United Arab Bank UAE, and MCB Bank (Pakistan-Sri Lanka operations) focusing on positions like Head of Corporate Banking, Chief Risk Officer, and Head of Portfolio Management. He holds a PhD from Management and Science University in Malaysia, an MBA from the University of Wales, MCIM (UK), Post Graduate Diploma in business and Financial Administration from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and several professional memberships, including Fellow of the Institute of Bankers(FIB) and Fellow of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka(FCPM), Associaion of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka (APBSL). Additionally, he has served as Assistant Treasurer and Vice President of the CRO Association in Sri Lanka. Dr. Illangakoon has authored numerous articles for international journals and national papers on economics and social economics and is a freelance researcher with publications in Sustainable Finance, Risk Management, Microfinance, Banking, and Green Finance.
